The Samford baseball team will take on cross-town rival UAB in two midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Samford enters the week with a record of 5-2 after taking two games from Montevallo over the weekend. UAB is currently 4-2 after dropping an 8-7 decision to Troy on Sunday.
Last season, Samford and UAB split the season series, with each team winning on its home field. UAB defeated Samford, 14-4 at Young Memorial Field, while Samford won the game at Joe Lee Griffin Field by a score of 10-7.
Samford is led at the plate by Luke Peavy, batting .500 with a team-high five doubles. Louis Rojas is the team leader in hits with 11 and RBI with seven.
On the mound, Samford will start Eric Lassiter (1-0, 1.86 ERA) on Tuesday, and Chandler Tidwell (0-0, 8.31 ERA) in Wednesday's game.
The teams will play on Tuesday at UAB's Young Memorial Field, while Wednesday's game will be played at Samford's Joe Lee Griffin Field. Both games are scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
