GREENVILLE, S.C. ---- The Samford University women's tennis team fell 7-0 at Furman on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Bulldogs record is now 7-4 overall, while the Paladins improved to 10-6 on the year.
In doubles play, Anna Jackson and Katie McMiller dropped a thrilling match on the No. 2 court, losing 9-8 (6) to Jacqueline Eckert and Lauren Osborne. Sarah McKey and Emily White lost, 8-1, on the No. 1 court to Laura Gioia and Marti Morris and Christie Baker and Whitnie Warren lost to Lisa Bornt-Davis and Shannon Davis by the same score on the No. 3 court.
Furman went on to win all six singles matches. Jackson fell, 6-1, 6-1 on the No. 1 court to Gioia, and McMiller fell, 6-3, 6-3, on the No. 2 court to Morris. White dropped an exciting 6-2, 6-7 (4), 10-4, match to Moore on the No. 3 court. Warren lost the No. 4 singles point, 6-0, 6-3, to Bonnie Baird and McKey lost 6-2, 6-3 on the No. 5 court. Additionally, Amber Dyar dropped the No. 6 match to Natasa Manojlovic, 6-1, 6-2.
The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, April 2 when play host to Tennessee Tech at the Lakeshore Foundation at noon.
