Baseball Travels To SEMO For Weekend OVC Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Southeast Missouri this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and a single game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Samford enters the series with a record of 18-15 overall and 8-1 in the OVC after sweeping Austin Peay last weekend. SEMO is currently 13-18 overall and 4-5 in conference play after winning, 9-5, over Missouri Wednesday night. Samford is in first place in the OVC entering the weekend, while SEMO is in a tie for fifth.

Last season, Samford won two-of-three games from Southeast Missouri. The Bulldogs won game one, 13-5, and game three, 4-2. The Redhawks took the middle game by a score of 3-1.

Parker Gargis currently leads the OVC in batting average (.415). Josh Ehmke leads the league in innings pitched (6.74 ippg.), and he is tied for the conference lead in starts for a pitcher (9). Joseph Edens currently leads the league in saves with six.

Gargis also leads Samford in RBI (27) and hits (44). John Morgan currently leads the team in runs scored (27), while Luke Peavy leads the Bulldogs in doubles (8), and Bear Burnett is the team-leader in home runs (4).
