BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford University men's tennis player, Bradley Weaver was awarded by the National Strength and Conditioning Association with its All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award.
The award was designed to recognize student athletes for their dedication to strength training and conditioning. The NSCA awarded 242 collegiate athletes from 160 schools with this award. Weaver was nominated by Samford strength coach Thomas Rohling, CSCS.
"Bradley is the bell-cow for getting his teammates in the weight room," Rohling said. "The best compliment I can give Bradley is that all the other coaches ask him if he would like to give their respective sports a try. Bradley was also the OVC's 2004 Sportsman of the year and was named first-team All-OVC for 2005."
Weaver has turned in a solid season for the Bulldogs in 2006. The Vestavia Hills, Ala., native has played consistently on the No. 4 singles court and on the No. 1 doubles court with partner Renan Silveira.
Weaver and the Bulldogs return to action on Friday, April 14, when they head to Livingston, Ala., to take on West Alabama.
