BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in full pads Wednesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's game at Georgia Tech.

Head Coach Bill Gray said his team is looking to improve from last week's season-opener against Miles College.

"There wasn't anything we did negatively against Miles that we can't correct," Gray said. "It all starts with protecting the football in the first half, and just making good decisions. We hope we will make some improvement from week one to week two."

Gray added that he hopes the maturity of his team will help in playing at a Division I-A school like Georgia Tech.

"I like the fact that we are going over there with 18 seniors," Gray said. "I hope we are not too taken aback by the atmosphere and we just go out there, play hard and play a solid game."

Samford will practice again Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. Saturday's game at Georgia Tech is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. Central kickoff from Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field.
