Women's Basketball Hosts Murray State Monday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Murray State Lady Racers Monday night at Seibert Hall.

Samford enters the game with a record of 11-10 overall and 6-6 in Ohio Valley Conference play after a 68-54 win at Austin Peay Saturday night. Murray State is currently 13-5 overall and 8-3 in conference play after a 67-64, double-overtime loss at Southeast Missouri on Saturday.

Samford and Murray State are meeting for the sixth time, with Murray State holding a 3-2 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, on Dec. 17, Murray State defeated Samford, 77-63, in Murray, Ky.

Samford is led in scoring by junior forward Alex Munday, averaging 13.7 points per game. Munday's average also ranks fifth in the OVC. Senior forward Veronica Pike leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.2 boards per contest. Taryn Towns is the team leader in assists, dishing out 2.6 assists per game.
