Football Begins Preparations For Jacksonville State

Oct. 30, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team practiced for a little over two hours in full pads Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The Bulldogs are preparing for Saturday's game against in-state rival Jacksonville State.

Samford enters the game with a record of 4-4 overall and 2-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play.

"It was a good game, it was great for our program," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "We played awfully well, especially on offense. Jefferson Adcock played about as well as you'd want anyone to play at quarterback. Our receivers did a nice job, Jeff Moore had a good day. Our offensive line really played well.

"Our kicking game was good, and, defensively, we made some plays in spurts," Sullivan said. "I think the story of the game was just the resiliency of our kids. Every time we got down, we came back and answered. It was a special win for our program."

Sullivan said he has seen improvement each week in his team throughout the season.

"I think we have been getting better each week," Sullivan said. "We have to continue that these next three weeks. Starting with Jacksonville State, then Tennessee State, and ending up with Eastern Illinois."

Sullivan added that he has been impressed with what he has seen from Jacksonville State.

"Jacksonville State is a strong team, especially on defense," Sullivan said. "We have our work cut out for us. Our goal is just to try to improve as a team each week."

Saturday's game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start from Seibert Stadium. The game can be heard live on the Samford Radio Network. The flagship station for the network is WVSU-FM 91.1.

The game can also be heard worldwide on the internet at www.al.com/wvsu, and it can be viewed on the internet at www.ovcsports.tv.
