Samford Men's Tennis Bad News For Bears

March 11, 2007

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men's tennis team won its fourth-straight match Sunday over the Bears of Mercer University. The Bulldogs are now 6-4 (3-0 OVC).

The Samford men followed the Samford women Sunday in a double-header that completely swung in the Bulldogs' favor. The women began the day with a 6-1 win over the women of Mercer, and the men continued the success with a 7-0 sweep of the Mercer men.

The Bears did not give up without a fight, keeping the doubles scores close and not losing a set by more than three. Manuel Miletic and Brian Dushock both went to three sets in the No.3 and No. 6 courts, respectively, and Renan Silveira, Stuart Misner and Hank Grant all won with identical sets.

The next action for the Samford men will come this Thursday, March 15, as they join the women in playing host to the Panthers of Eastern Illinois. Match play begins at 2 p.m. in the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
