BROOKHAVEN, Miss. ---- The Samford University men's tennis team bounced back from Friday's loss to Southern Miss with a 6-1 win over the Braves of Alcorn State. The match was a part of the Bulldogs' three-match weekend in Brookhaven, Miss.
In its match with Alcorn State, Samford took the doubles point by winning two out of three. Grant//Huffman won at the No. 1 court, while Dushock/De Wet defeated their opponent at the No. 2 court. Miletic/Rocke lost in the No. 3 court, but the Bulldogs would bounce back in the singles competition.
Samford (9-5, 4-0 OVC) took five of the six singles matches, with Manuel Miletic losing at the No. 1 court but Sam Huffman, Hank Grant, Kelwin De Wet and Brian Dushock winning the following matches. Sam Rocke, who won at the No. 6 court, played his first match for Samford Saturday.
The Samford men will be back in action next weekend as they join the women on a trip to Kentucky to take on two Ohio Valley Conference opponents. The Bulldogs will face Eastern Kentucky next Saturday, March 24, and then they will match up with the Eagles of Morehead State of Sunday, March 25. Times are yet to be determined for those matches.
