RICHMOND, Ky. ---- The Samford men's tennis team grabbed their fifth straight conference win Saturday over the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky. The Bulldogs (10-5, 5-0 OVC) won the match 4-3, but not without a fight from Eastern Kentucky.
Samford came out with a bang, sweeping the doubles point from Eastern Kentucky, but the Colonels came back fighting to win the first two singles matches. At court No. 2, Sam Huffman went three sets with Lars Gratzki before dropping the match, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Renan Silveira, Stuart Misner, and Hank Grant won three straight matches at courts No. 3 through No. 5. Misner fell behind 3-6 in the first set of his match, but came back and took the last two to come out with the win.
The Bulldogs continue action in its first conference road weekend as they take on Morehead State tomorrow. Check www.samfordsports.com for a full recap and results.
