BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford women's tennis team had their three-match win streak snapped Thursday with a 7-0 loss to in-state foe Troy University. The Troy Trojans are currently ranked 62nd in the country and improve to 7-2 on the season, while Samford is now 4-2 (3-0 OVC).

"I am extremely proud of how we handled ourselves against the 62nd ranked team in the country today," Samford head coach Terri Sisk said. "Our doubles has improved tremendously and even though we lost all three courts, the momentum is building."

The Trojans were victorious in every match, but the Bulldogs did not give up without a fight.

"We got bullied a little bit in singles by not hitting enough balls deep in the court but the fight was definitely there," said Sisk. "It is never fun to take a loss like this but the girls were excited knowing they played a good team. We will get back to work tomorrow to correct some of the issues we had today."

Indeed, the Samford women will get back to work t prepare for a full weekend of play. The Bulldog women will join the Bulldog men Saturday as they jump back into conference play with a match against the Racers of Murray State. The women will kick things off at 10 a.m., and the men will take the courts directly after at around 1:30 p.m.

Sunday, the Samford men and women will face off with non-conference opponent Mercer beginning at 2 p.m. For a full recap and results of those two matches, go to
