MARTIN, Tenn. ---- The Samford men's tennis team wrapped up the regular-season this weekend with two road wins over Ohio Valley Conference opponents. The Bulldogs (13-8, 8-2 OVC) defeated the Governors of Austin Peay on Saturday and the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks on Sunday.

In a 7-0 sweep over Austin Peay, Samford duos Silveira/Huffman and Misner/Grant started things off with 8-4 wins at the first two courts, while Brian Dushock and Kelwin De Wet downed Puerlotas/Magee, 8-1.

In singles, the Bulldogs went three sets at the one, three and five courts. Renan Silveira fell behind, 2-6, in the first set at the No. 1 court but came back to take the match 7-5, 6-1. Sam Huffman won the first set at the No. 3 court, but Austin Peay's Locatelli evened things up as he took the second set. However, Huffman would take the match by winning the third set, 7-5.

Kelwin De Wet also fell behind in the first set at the No. 5 court, but came roaring back to take the last two sets, 6-1, 10-4. Stuart Misner, Hank Grant, and Brian Dushock all grabbed wins at the two, four and six positions, respectively.

On Sunday against Tennessee-Martin, the Samford men captured the first doubles win before the Skyhawks came back to win the last two. However, Samford jumped back in it with five straight singles wins to capture the overall win, 5-2.

With the regular-season coming to a close, the Bulldogs look to the post-season and the OVC O'Reilly Tennis Tournament. The three-day event hosted by Southeast Missouri begins this Friday, April 20, at the Centennial Tennis Complex in Nashville, Tenn. The tournament will conclude the following Sunday with the crowning of the 2007 tournament champion.
