BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Junior Bulldog Lauren Blankenship has been named OVC Track Athlete of the Week. This is the second Athlete of the Week honor for Blankenship as she won the award for her performance in the second week of the indoor season.

The Alpharetta, Ga. native qualified for the NCAA South Regional in the 5000-meter race this past weekend at the Sea Rays Relays in Knoxville, Tenn. Her time of 16:33.99 won her first place in the race and also placed her at the top of the OVC best list.

Blankenship also anchored the mile segment of the women's distance medley at the Sea Rays Relays. Her 4:53 mile led the women's team to a 10th place finish in the event.

Voted on by the conference office, the Athlete of the Week award goes to the conference player who has turned in an outstanding performance in the previous week.
