BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team returned to practice after a day off with a two-hour workout in full pads Thursday evening at Seibert Stadium.

"I thought we were fresh at the start of practice," Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said. "We had a good spirited practice. We were able to get a lot of work in today.

"Today was our last full pads day of the week," Sullivan said. "Tomorrow we will practice in shorts and shoulder pads, and we will have a game-rehearsal in shorts on Saturday."

Sullivan added that he saw some bright spots during Thursday night's workout.

"Chris Evans and Jefferson Adcock had a good day on offense," Sullivan said. "Jay McCurty had a good day on defense. Tyler Baker and John Soto both punted the ball well today as well."

The Bulldogs will practice Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. in shorts and shoulder pads. The team will go through a game-rehearsal in shorts and helmets Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Samford opens the 2007 season on Thursday, Aug. 30, when the Bulldogs play host to West Alabama. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
