Samford Men's Tennis Posts Three Wins At Southern Intercollegiates

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The Samford men's tennis team posted three wins Friday in the first day of the Southern Intercollegiate Championship hosted by the University of Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The tournament is broken into three singles flights and two doubles flights.

Senior Hank Grant defeated Yuto Sutanito from the Citadel, 6-2, 7-5, while sophomore Kelwin DeWet defeated Arnoldo Lovera of the University of South Carolina, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Jordan Delass added another win for Samford as he Richard Morgan of Middle Tennessee State, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

In other Bulldog matches, senior Renan Silveira lost to Albert Larregola (Virginia Tech), 6-1, 6-2, while Oliver Reynolds lost to Thomas Stoddard of South Carolina, 7-6, 6-2. Carl Abalos also lost to a South Carolina competitor in Pulsfort, 6-4, 6-0. Junior Richard Walsh lost to Alex McCann of Middle Tennessee State, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 and junior Brian Dushock fell to Jamal Adderly of South Florida, 7-5, 6-3.
