Women's Basketball Begins Four-Game Road Swing At Tennessee Tech Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Cookeville, Tenn., to take on the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in an Ohio Valley Conference game Thursday evening. The game begins a four-game road swing that will wrap up the regular season for Samford.

Samford enters the game with a record of 20-6 overall and 13-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play after a 71-48 win over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. Tennessee Tech is currently 8-19 overall and 7-10 in league play after a 69-52 win at Austin Peay on Saturday.

Samford's 20 wins are the second most wins in the program's history. The 2005-06 team holds the Samford record for most wins with 21, posting a 21-8 record.

Samford and Tennessee Tech are meeting for the 11th time, with Tech holding a 6-4 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, Samford defeated Tennessee Tech, 64-45, at the Pete Hanna Center on Jan. 12.

In Saturday's win over Eastern Kentucky, Monica Maxwell led the Bulldogs with 18 points for the second game in a row. Taryn Towns scored 13 points, while Alex Munday and Emily London added 10 points each.

For the season, Samford is led in scoring by London, averaging 12.0 points per game. Maxwell is second on the squad in scoring with an average of 10.6 points per game.

Savannah Hill leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.8 rebounds per game. London is second in the category, averaging 4.0 boards per contest.

Towns leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.8 assists per game. London is second in assists, with an average of 2.5 assists per contest.
