The Samford baseball team will play host to Lipscomb in the Bulldogs' home opener Tuesday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Samford enters the game with a record of 1-2 after dropping two of three games at Kennesaw State last weekend. Lipscomb is 0-3 after being swept at Southern Mississippi over the weekend.
In Samford's series at Kennesaw State, Michael Rutledge hit .500 (6-for-12) with a double and an RBI. Michael Marseco and Alex Godshall each went 5-for-13 (.385) for the series. Marseco drove in two runs and Godshall drove in one.
John Morgan had a double and a home run in the series. Jonathan Stephens earned the win on Sunday, pitching 6.0 innings, giving up one run on two hits.
Samford and Lipscomb last met in the 2006 season, with Lipscomb winning, 7-1, at Joe Lee Griffin Field. Samford has won its last two home-openers in a row, and the Bulldogs are 2-1 in home openers under head coach Casey Dunn.
