Women's Basketball Game Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will play at Austin Peay in an Ohio Valley Conference contest Saturday afternoon at the Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
Samford enters the game with a record of 17-6 overall and 10-3 in Ohio Valley Conference play after an 86-80, double-overtime win over Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Austin Peay is currently 5-17 overall and 2-11 in conference play after a 67-48 loss at Eastern Illinois on Thursday.
In last Saturday's win over Eastern Illinois, Monica Maxwell led Samford with a career-high 21 points. Maxwell led five Samford players in double figures. Savannah Hill scored 19 points, Emily London scored 16 points, Alex Munday scored 11 points and Taryn Towns added 10 points.
Samford's 17-6 record gives the Bulldogs the best start after 23 games of any team in program history. The 2005-06 team, which won a program-record 21 games, was 16-7 after the first 23 games of the season. The Bulldogs have won 10 of their last 11 games.
Samford is led in scoring by London, averaging 12.0 points per game. Hill is second on the team in scoring, with an average of 10.4 points per game.
Hill leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.9 boards per contest. Maxwell is second in rebounding with an average of 4.0 rebounds per game.
Towns is the team-leader in assists, dishing out 3.9 assists per game. London is second on the squad in assists, with an average of 2.6 assists per game.
Samford players rank in the top five in the OVC in several statistical categories. London ranks fifth in three-point field goal percentage (44.9%). Towns ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (2.12), and Maxwell ranks fifth in the league in three-point field goals made per game (1.91 pg.).
Samford and Austin Peay are meeting for the 10th time, with Samford holding a 6-3 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, Samford defeated Austin Peay, 64-46, on Jan. 26 at the Pete Hanna Center.
