BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford men's tennis team grabbed its sixth consecutive win Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs defeated the Mercer Bears by a score of 5-2. The win moves the Bulldogs to 8-4 overall while the Bears fall to 4-12 on the season.
Samford clinched the doubles team point, 2-1, as Sam Huffman and Hank Grant earned a win at the No. 1 court and Jordan Delass and Richard Walsh won at the No. 2 court.
The Bulldogs took four of six singles matches as Delass, Huffman, Brian Dushock and Oliver Reynolds all won their matches. Silveira and Grant battled in two hard-fought matches at the No. 1 and No. 4 courts, respectively. Both matches went to third sets and both Bulldogs were not able to overcome their opponents.
Next, the Samford men will hit the road for a six-match road swing. The Bulldogs will begin in Texas next weekend, March 27-28, with matches against Texas-San Antonio and New Mexico State.
