SAN ANTONIO ---- The Samford men's tennis team dropped its second consecutive loss Friday afternoon by a 5-2 decision to the Aggies of New Mexico State. The Bulldogs fall to 8-6 on the season while the Aggies improve to 10-5.
New Mexico State won the doubles point, grabbing wins at the first and third courts. However, Hank Grant and Sam Huffman earned their third consecutive win at the No. 2 court, defeating Gustave Diep and Jeff Pfeifer, 8-4.
Renan Silveira and Huffman won the only two singles matches for the Bulldogs. Silveira defeated Roman Stoisavljevic, 7-6, 6-2, at the No. 2 court while Huffman went three sets with Stefan McKinney before winning, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
The Samford men stay on the road for three more matches. The Bulldogs will meet up with Eastern Illinois next on Saturday, April 5. The squad then heads to Murray State on Sunday, April 6 before meeting up with Tennessee State on Thursday, April 9, in the morning then coming home to host Alabama.
