Baseball Plays At Mercer, Hosts Georgia State In Midweek Games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford baseball team will play two midweek games this week. The Bulldogs will play at Mercer Tuesday night at 5 p.m., and they will play host to Georgia State Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

Samford enters the week with a record of 14-8 overall and 5-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play after winning two games at Murray State over the weekend. Mercer is currently 11-16 after winning two of three games against Stetson over the weekend. Georgia State enters the week with a record of 17-9 after winning two of three games against Northeastern.

Samford is currently led at the plate by Michael Marseco, batting .398 with 25 RBI. Wayne Miller is batting .377, and Michael Rutledge is currently hitting .363. Jonathan Stephens (4-0, 1.93 ERA) has been the leader of the pitching staff so far.

Mercer's Billy Shaughnessy leads the team with a .358 batting average. Casey Stuart is hitting .352, while John Dortch is currently batting .351. Justin Boyette (3-1, 4.33 ERA) and David Harden (2-1, 4.45 ERA) have been the Bears' top pitchers.

For Georgia State, Jean-Michel Rochon-Salvas is batting .404, while Derek Simmons has a .372 average and Nick Hogan is batting .348. Will Palmer (2-1, 3.74 ERA) and Kenny Camp (2-1, 3.86 ERA) are the Panthers' top pitchers.
