BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford volleyball team began spring play this weekend, March 28-29, as it moves forward on the road to preparing for the 2008 fall season. The squad is under the direction of a brand new staff headed by Head Coach Dex Schroeder and assistants Jen Gandolph and Kilee Goetz.

The Bulldogs defeated Alabama State, Christian Brothers University and Murray State, 2-0, while also splitting matches with North Alabama and Memphis. They lost to Ole Miss, 0-2.

"We are very pleased with the first weekend of play under the new staff and are looking forward to this final month of spring practice and play," Samford head coach Dex Schroeder said.

The Bulldogs will be playing at Alabama Saturday, April 5, starting at 9 a.m.
