CHARLESTON, Ill. ---- The Samford men's tennis team extended its Ohio Valley Conference win streak to four Saturday afternoon as they slipped by Eastern Illinois, 4-3, in the Bulldogs' third road match in a row. The win takes the Samford men to 9-6 overall while the Panthers drop to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Samford got off to a good start by capturing the doubles point as the Bulldogs swept all three duo match-ups.
In singles play, both teams won three matches a piece but the double point gave Samford the edge and the win. Jordan Delass, Brian Dushock and Oliver Reynolds all won singles matches for Samford. Delass defeated Vuk Milicevic (7-5, 6-2) at the No. 2 court while Dushock downed Chris Thomas (6-3, 7-5) at the No. 5 spot and Reynolds came from behind after the first set to beat Felipe Gama at the No. 6 position.
The Bulldog men are back in action Sunday morning as the play their fourth road match in a five match string. Samford will take on the Murray State men at 10 a.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
