Women's Basketball Game Notes In PDF Format

The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Statesboro, Ga., to take on the Georgia Southern Eagles in a Southern Conference game Monday evening. The game will mark the first ever meeting between Samford and Georgia Southern.
Samford enters the game with a record of 9-3 overall and 4-1 in Southern Conference play after a 64-58 win at College of Charleston Saturday afternoon. Georgia Southern is currently 9-5 overall and 4-1 in SoCon play after a 66-65 win over Chattanooga on Saturday. GSU's win ended Chattanooga's 27-game conference win streak.
Samford is led in scoring by sophomore forward Savannah Hill, averaging 13.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Emily London is second in scoring with an average of 11.7 points per game.
Hill is also the team's leading rebounder, grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game. London ranks second on the team in rebounding, pulling down 4.1 boards per contest.
London leads the team in assists, averaging 2.8 assists per game. Senior guard Karmen Smith is second in assists, dishing out 2.2 assists per game.
Georgia Southern is led by Ashley Melson, averaging 13.9 points per game. J'Lisia Ogburn leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.8 boards per contest.
Entering Monday's game, Samford leads the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. The Bulldogs lead the league in scoring defense (53.7 ppg.), field goal percentage defense (36.6%), three-point field goal percentage defense (21.7%), turnover margin (+5.42) and assist/turnover ratio (1.0).
Individually, Samford players rank among conference leaders in a few statistical categories as well. Hill ranks fifth in the league in scoring (13.5 ppg.), junior guard Megan Wilderotter ranks third in free throw percentage (84.2%), London ranks fifth in three-point field goal percentage (42.1%) and London and junior guard Monica Maxwell are tied for fourth in three-point field goals made per game (2.0 pg.).
Monday evening's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. (CT) start from Georgia Southern's Hanner Fieldhouse.
