BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- The Samford University softball team's game at Jacksonville State on Wednesday was been postponed due to the threat of severe weather across the state. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.
The meeting between the two rivals from the Ohio Valley Conference was scheduled for 5 p.m., at University Field on the Jacksonville State campus. However, the game will be played at a later time because of a line of storms threatening both the Birmingham and Jacksonville areas for the remainder of the day.
The National Weather Service forecast predicts that thunderstorms with damaging straight-line winds in excess of 25 to 35 miles per hour could move through the area this afternoon. More information about the future date of the game will be available on www.samfordsports.com when the game is rescheduled.
The Bulldogs will be back in action this weekend as they host the annual Samford Bulldog Bash. Games will begin Friday morning at 11:30 a.m., when Southern Illinois and Gardner-Webb meet up on Bulldog Field. Following that game will be a 1:30 p.m. match-up between Southern Illinois and Austin Peay. For a full schedule of the tournament, go to www.samfordsports.com.
