BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford Broadcast Network recently announced its broadcasting lineup for the 2009 spring sports season.

Flagship radio station WVSU-FM 91.1 will provide live play-by-play coverage of more than 36 baseball and softball games, while SoCon.TV will stream live video for over 50 total contests.

Mike Grace, Samford Athletics' Director of Multimedia Services assumes his role as "Voice of the Bulldogs." On the baseball broadcasts, Grace will be joined throughout the season by Coulter Bean and Jared Smith. Bean is a former Auburn teammate of Dogs' skipper Casey Dunn who went on to spend seven seasons in professional baseball, including a big league stint with the New York Yankees in 2005. Smith is a former Samford Bulldog, who spent over five seasons in professional baseball.

The baseball team opened the season this past weekend by winning two-of-three games over Kennesaw State.

Beanie Ketcham's softball team makes its broadcast debut on Wednesday, Feb. 25 when the Troy Trojans visit the Samford campus for a 4 p.m. contest to be aired on both SoCon.TV and WVSU.

In July 2005, the Southern Conference launched SoCon.TV, a live video streaming network designed to bring SoCon sports to people around the world through the internet. The network includes not only Southern Conference Championship events but also regular season events from around the league.
