Women's Tennis Suffers 7-0 Defeat At Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Samford University women's tennis team played in only its third road match of the 2009 season Saturday and dropped a 7-0 Southern Conference decision against the Furman Lady Paladins at the Minor Herndon Mickel Tennis Center.

With the loss, Samford (3-7, 0-2 SoCon) fell to 0-3 when playing on the road this season. The Bulldogs are 3-4 when competing in the friendly confines of the Samford Tennis Center.

Furman (6-6, 1-0 SoCon) extended its winning streak to three-consecutive matches and improved to 3-2 when playing at home in the Mickel Tennis Center. The Lady Paladins' previous two home losses occurred against perennial national powers South Carolina 6-1 and Wake Forest 6-1.

Furman has been victorious in five of its last six matches.

The Samford women's tennis team will next be in action Sunday at 11 a.m., as the Bulldogs conclude their current two-match road swing against the Wofford Terriers in Spartanburg, S.C.
