CHARLESTON, S.C. -
The Samford University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision against the College of Charleston Cougars on Friday in a Southern Conference matchup held at the Patriot's Point Tennis Complex.
Samford (7-11, 4-5 SoCon) won the doubles point, but the College of Charleston rallied to win five of the six singles matches. The Bulldogs' Taylor Morgan earned the team's lone singles victory as she outlasted the Cougars' Laura Borza, 6-7 (5), 7-6(3), 1-0, in the No. 1 singles match. With the win, Morgan improved to 11-7 on the season.
In doubles play, Morgan was also victorious as she teamed with Stephanie Parkison to earn an 8-4 victory on court No. 1. Samford's doubles pair comprised of Andrie Meiring and Jessica Diamond tallied an 8-5 win in the competition on court No. 2 to secure the match's first point.
The Samford women's tennis team will next be in action Saturday at 10 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs travel to Statesboro, Ga., for their regular-season finale against the Georgia Southern Eagles.
