CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Samford men's tennis team concluded its three-match Southern Conference road trip with a 2-1 record Sunday as the Bulldogs fell short in a 5-2 loss against the College of Charleston Cougars held at the Patriot's Point Tennis Center.

Prior to Sunday's defeat, Samford (6-12-1, 3-4-1 SoCon) opened its current road swing with consecutive 4-3 victories against Chattanooga and The Citadel. The Bulldogs' loss to the College of Charleston (7-11, 4-4 SoCon) was their first road defeat since Feb. 21.

The Cougars won the doubles point and then picked up victories on four singles courts to take the 5-2 triumph.

Samford's singles wins occurred on courts No. 2 and No. 3. The Bulldogs' junior Kelwin DeWet outlasted the College of Charleston's Lukas Concilia in the No. 2 singles match, while Carson Kadi knocked off Tom Delme on court No. 3, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

With his victory, the Bulldogs' Kadi improved his record to 15-4 this season and tallied his eighth-consecutive win. Samford's speedy native of New Orleans, La., has not been defeated in singles play since March 10.

In Sunday's doubles competition, the Bulldogs' tandem of Carl Abalos and Oliver Reynolds defeated the Cougars' duo comprised of Steven Myers and Omer Abramovich, 8-5, on court No. 2.

The Samford men's tennis team will next be in action April 11 at 11 a.m., as the Bulldogs host the Texas-San Antonio in a non-conference contest to be held at the Samford Tennis Center in Birmingham, Ala.
