Durban Promoted To Associate AD

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford athletics department has promoted Michelle Durban to associate director of athletics for compliance, Director of Athletics Bob Roller announced Thursday.

Durban has served as an assistant director of athletics for compliance since November of 2007. She oversees all areas of NCAA compliance and also serves as senior woman administrator.

Durban also oversees Samford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has been instrumental in the growth of SAAC on Samford's campus.

Durban, who played collegiate volleyball at Indiana University, was Samford's head volleyball coach for four years prior to being named assistant director of athletics in 2007. She led the Samford women's volleyball team to its first winning season in her final year as coach in 2007.

Durban served as associate head coach at the University of Alabama from 2000-2004. She was also an assistant coach at Butler University for three years after beginning her coaching career at Bloomington South (Ind.) High School.

A native of Edgewood, Ky., Durban graduated from Indiana University in 1996 with a B.S. in recreation and sports management. One year later, she received her M.S. degree from Indiana as well. While at Indiana, Durban was the SAAC president for the Big Ten Conference.

Durban and her husband, Jason, have two daughters, Alyson, 7, and Sydney, 2. The family currently resides in Hoover.
