Samford junior outfielder David Schulze has been named the Player of the Week for the Florida Collegiate Summer League (FCSL), the league announced on Monday.
For the week, Schulze batted .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, two RBI, three stolen bases and a .692 on-base percentage for the Sanford River Rats.
For the season, Schulze is leading the River Rats with a .294 batting average with two home runs and 20 RBI. He also leads the team in stolen bases with 15, just one ahead of fellow Bulldog Trey Hayes.
Schulze leads the FCSL in hits (32), runs scored (24) and stolen bases (15). He also ranks second in the league in total bases (46), and he is tied for second in doubles (8).
In his first season at Samford in 2008, Schulze set a Samford record for RBI with 57, and he led the team in home runs with 10. Schulze ranked third on the squad in batting with a .335 average.
