The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held its second meeting of the year Thursday. The representatives along with fellow athletes and athletic staff sported SAAC t-shirts all day to bring the athletic community together and to make the rest of the Samford community aware of Samford athletics.

Topics discussed at the meeting included:
- Ways to get students convo credit for coming to athletic events.
- Ideas about this year's athletic convocation.
- Greek Life partnership. There is interest within the Greek community to do a brother/sister type partnership with Samford athletic teams.
- Co-chair Patrick Hatcher is working on setting up a Facebook page for SAAC to increase communication within the athletic community. Keep an eye out for it.
- Athletes-For-Athletes. The next opportunities to earn points are Volleyball vs. Chattanooga on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Soccer vs. Western Carolina (Double points) on Fri., Oct. 2, and Football vs. Western Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 3. - Community Service. We are getting ready to start going out to local schools and reading to classes. Hollie will soon be sending out dates for that. Let her know if you would like to participate. Also Vestavia Hills Elementary East will have a Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5-8 p.m. The theme is the Olympics and they are looking for players from volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, track and field and tennis to come help out. If you would like to help, check with your coaches on practice times and availability and then let Hollie know that you would like to help.

The SAMSPYS was a big topic in Thursday's meeting. Committees were picked and ideas were thrown around about things that could be added or changed for this year's ceremony.

All committees are open to ALL athletes, not just SAAC representative. If you would like to help and join a committee, see Michelle Durban or Hollie Huey. Also if you have any ideas, see your SAAC representative and pass along any ideas you have.
