Women's Basketball Earns SoCon Win At Appalachian State, 71-65

BOONE, N.C. - The Samford women's basketball team earned a hard-fought Southern Conference road victory in a 71-65 win at Appalachian State Monday evening at ASU's Holmes Center.

With the win, Samford improves to 12-6 overall and 6-3 in SoCon play. Appalachian State drops to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Samford was led by Emily London, who recorded her first career double-double with 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Megan Wilderotter scored 16 points and Savannah Hill added 12 points.

For ASU, Ashlen Dewart led the way with 13 points, while Canesha Edwards added 10 points for the Mountaineers.

As a team, Samford shot 46.7 percent from the floor, including a 38.1-percent effort from three-point range. ASU shot 37.1 percent overall and 33.3 percent from three-point range. The teams were even in rebounds, with each team pulling down 35 boards in the contest.

Samford will return to action on Monday, Jan. 18, when the Bulldogs play host to Western Carolina. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start from the Pete Hanna Center.
