The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on the Wofford Terriers in a Southern Conference contest Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. (CT).
Samford enters the game with a record of 13-6 overall and 7-3 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off an 80-65 win over Western Carolina on Jan. 18.
Samford is led in scoring by junior guard Emily London, averaging 16.6 points per game. London currently leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage, making 53.9 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc.
Junior forward Savannah Hill leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 5.2 rebounds per game. Hill also leads the team in assists with 55 for the season. Senior guard Monica Maxwell is third in scoring (9.9 ppg.) and second in rebounding (4.9 rpg.) on the team. Senior guard Megan Wilderotter is second on the team in assists with 46 so far this season.
Wofford is currently 3-13 overall and 2-7 in league play. The Terriers are coming off a 61-60 overtime win at Elon on Jan. 18.
Wofford is led in both scoring and rebounding by Mahagony Williams, averaging 10.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. Natalie Gramblin averages 8.4 points, while Kelly Dwyer scores 8.2 points per game for the Terriers.
Samford and Wofford are meeting for the seventh time, with Samford holding a 5-1 advantage in the series. Earlier this season, Samford defeated Wofford by a score of 71-58 on Dec. 5 at the Pete Hanna Center.
In its 12-plus seasons, Samford has posted a record of 66-103 in road games. Last season's team posted the best road record in program history, going 11-3 away from home. This season, Samford has 14 road games on its schedule, and the Bulldogs are currently 4-5 in those games. Samford has a 1-1 all-time record in games played at Wofford's Benjamin Johnson Arena.
Entering Monday's game, Samford leads the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. The Bulldogs currently lead the league in scoring margin (+6.4 ppg.), free throw percentage (.760), three-point field goal percentage (.386), rebounding defense (32.7 rpg.), assist/turnover ratio (0.9) and three-pointers made per game (8.6 pg.).
