Baseball Visits Exceptional Foundation

Oct. 14, 2010

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Several members of the Samford baseball team recently spent two days at the Exceptional Foundation, helping with the Foundation's basic skills camp.

The Samford baseball players taught the children the rules of baseball, coordination, handling of equipment, and how to field, throw and hit. The skills instruction concluded with a game.

"Our kids participating in the sports camp had an absolute blast with the Samford Baseball team," Robbie Lee, Sports Coordinator for The Exceptional Foundation, said. "It is extremely exciting for the kids to receive instruction from accomplished athletes and it is equally exciting for me to see local athletes being so eager and enthusiastic about giving back to the community. I think it was a really wonderful experience for everyone involved."

Samford players participating in the basic skills camp were: Stephen Ballard, Austin Allison, Christiaan Durdaller, Kevin Putkonen, Brandon Miller, Brandon Powell, Arthur Strauss, Sean Handlan, Brad Moss, and Ty Filliben.
