DAVIDSON, N.C. ---- The Samford volleyball team dropped its third straight Southern Conference match Saturday in a five-set thriller (17-25, 25-20, 25-13, 21-25, 12-15) at Davidson. The loss marks the eighth consecutive loss for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have not lost more than seven in a row since 2006.
After dropping the first set, Samford came back and won the next two, dominating the third. Davidson won the fourth set to push the match to a tie-breaker, and eventually won the fifth and final set.
"Volleyball is a game of first contact," Samford head coach Derek Schroeder said. "In the first and fourth sets, we got manhandled with their serves. When we handled the serves, we won easy sets. When you get into a fifth set with an engaged home team, anything can happen. Davidson made plays to win."

The sophomore middle blocker tallied a career-high .462 hitting percentage, scoring a career-high 22 kills on a career-high 39 attempts. She also matched a career high in assists with two while posting four digs and a block.
"Neisler was unstoppable today and is emerging as one of the best weapons in the conference," Schroeder said. "Lexi was also solid and the new faces on the floor (Taylor Chao and Alicia Roth) played very well and were out there because of how they practiced this week."

Samantha Bland had a season-high nine kills while also grabbing eight digs and three assists. Shelby Brandon had six kills, two blocks and a dig.
