BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Nine members of the Samford baseball team were named to Perfect Game USA's list of the top 48 draft-eligible players in the state of Alabama.

Samford had the second-highest total of any team in the state. The Bulldogs' nine members on the team were second only to Auburn's 12. UAB placed six members on the team, while Alabama, Troy and South Alabama had five representatives each on the list. Jacksonville State had four players on the list, while West Alabama placed two members on the list.

Samford's nine representatives on the list were: Brandon Miller (Jr., C, Tyrone, Ga.), Gardner Richey (So., OF, Tupelo, Miss.), Andrew Jones (Sr., RHP, Marietta, Ga.), Michael Johnson (Sr., SS, Naples, Fla.), Kevin Putkonen (Jr., OF, South Windsor, Conn.), Kyle Putkonen (Jr., RHP, Marietta, Ga.), Josh Martin (Jr., RHP, Enterprise, Ala.), Grant Sides (Sr., RHP, Northport, Ala.) and Saxon Butler (Jr., C/1B, Oxford, Ala.).

Samford had four players rated among the top 25 on the list. Miller was the highest rated Samford player on the list at No. 7. Richey was rated 19th, while Jones was 21st and Johnson 22nd.
