WILMINGTON, N.C. -
The Samford University men's tennis team suffered its third straight road defeat Tuesday as the Bulldogs dropped a 7-0 decision against the 71st-ranked UNC Wilmington Seahawks at the UNCW Tennis Complex.
With the loss, Samford (8-5) moved to 3-3 in road contests and fell to 0-3 on its current five-match road trip. Prior to Tuesday's defeat, the Bulldogs came up short in recent Southern Conference matchups against Elon and UNC Greensboro.
UNC Wilmington (8-4), Samford's first ranked opponent of the 2010 spring season, snapped its three-match losing streak Tuesday. Prior to defeating the Bulldogs, the Seahawks lost consecutive matches against Boston College 4-3, 29th-ranked Georgia Tech 6-1 and 59th-ranked East Tennessee State 4-3.
The Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Wednesday at 10 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs continue their five-match road trip against the Drake Bulldogs at UNC Wilmington's "Battle at the Beach" tournament being held in Wilmington, N.C.
