WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Samford men's tennis team's road woes continued Wednesday as the Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision against the Drake Bulldogs at the 2010 Battle by the Beach Tournament hosted by UNC Wilmington.

With the loss, Samford (8-6) fell short in its fourth-consecutive match and dropped to 0-4 on its current five-match road swing. The Bulldogs will conclude their spring break trip Sunday with a key Southern Conference matchup against Georgia Southern.

Drake (9-5), which competed in its first outdoor dual match of the 2010 season Wednesday, extended its winning streak to four straight contests. Prior to defeating Samford, Drake rattled off consecutive home victories against Gustavus Adolphus 7-0, Graceland 6-1 and Missouri-Kansas City 7-0.

In Wednesday's match held at the UNCW Tennis Complex, Drake swept the doubles competition and then picked up singles victories on courts No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.

Samford's lone win occurred in the No. 2 singles contest as sophomore Carson Kadi cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 triumph against James McKie. With the win, Kadi improved his record in singles play to 8-5 this season.

The Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Sunday at 11 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs conclude their five-match road trip with a SoCon showdown against the Georgia Southern Eagles in Statesboro, Ga.
