'Dogs Lose Hard-Fought 4-3 Decision Against Abilene Christian

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University men's tennis team dropped a nonconference match against the Abilene Christian Wildcats on Wednesday as the Bulldogs fell short by a score of 4-3 at the Samford Tennis Center.

With the loss, Samford (9-8) moved to 1-2 on its current five-match homestand and dropped to 6-4 when playing at the Samford Tennis Center this season.

The Bulldogs lost the doubles point, but then picked up singles victories from Zac Dunkle, Carl Abalos and Adam Witcher. With his 6-2, 6-2 triumph at the No. 2 singles position; Samford's Dunkle earned his third straight singles win and improved his record in dual-match play to 9-6.

Abilene Christian (13-7) tallied the critical doubles point and held on for singles victories on courts No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4.

The Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Saturday at 11 a.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs welcome The Citadel Bulldogs to the Samford Tennis Center for a critical SoCon showdown.
