BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team will open spring practice Tuesday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. at Seibert Stadium, head coach Pat Sullivan announced on Monday.
"We're excited about starting spring practice," Sullivan said. "We have a veteran team, but this is a time for us to see how some of our younger players have grown throughout the year. It's also a chance to try some new things, offensively and defensively."
Tuesday's first practice will be in shorts and helmets, as will Wednesday's second practice, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The team will practice in full pads for the first time on Thursday, Mar. 11, at 4:15 p.m., before the team takes time off for Spring Break.
The Bulldogs will return from Spring Break with a practice on Mar. 23. The first scrimmage of the spring is scheduled for Mar. 27 at 10 a.m. The team will also scrimmage on April 10, and the final spring scrimmage is scheduled for April 15 at 4 p.m.
Samford returns eight starters on offense and seven on defense from the 2009 season. The Bulldogs posted a record of 5-6 overall and 3-5 in Southern Conference play during the 2009 season.
