The Samford University men's tennis team completed its road trip with a 1-1 record Sunday as the Bulldogs dropped a 6-1 decision against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. On Saturday, Samford (11-10, 3-6 Southern Conference) opened its two-match road swing with a 4-3 victory over Davidson.
The Bulldogs currently own a 4-4 record on the road this season. Samford owns a 7-5 record at home and will complete its home schedule Wednesday at 6 p.m. (CDT) against Alabama. The Bulldogs' home finale will be held at the Samford Tennis Center.
In Sunday's match, Appalachian State (11-8, 3-5 SoCon) won the doubles point and then received singles victories on the bottom five courts. Samford's lone win in singles play occurred at the No. 1 position where sophomore Carson Kadi knocked off the Mountaineers' Peter Jacobs in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Kadi, the Bulldogs' all-conference performer from New Orleans, La., earned his second straight victory Sunday and improved his record on the season to 12-8.
The Samford University men's tennis team will next be in action Wednesday at 6 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs play host to the Alabama Crimson Tide in their home finale to be held at the Samford Tennis Center.
