Women's Tennis Extends Winning Streak To Five With 5-2 Victory At Elon

ELON, N.C. - The Samford University women's tennis team continued its winning ways Saturday with a 5-2 Southern Conference road victory against the Elon Phoenix. With their triumph, the Bulldogs extended their winning streak to five-consecutive matches.
Samford (13-5, 5-1 SoCon) claimed Saturday's doubles point and then received singles victories from Madelie Janse Van Rensburg, Stephanie Parkison, Rebecca Kirven and Lindsey Mallory.
The Bulldogs clinched the victory at the No. 6 singles position as Mallory cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win against Laura Graybill. Samford quickly earned a 4-0 lead in the match by tallying victories in the first three singles contests.
With Kirven's straight-set triumph on court No. 5, the Bulldogs' sophomore from Windermere, Fla., improved her team-leading singles record to 13-5 this season.
Elon (13-5, 4-2 SoCon) picked up its singles wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. The Phoenix opened conference play with a 4-0 record, but has been defeated in its most recent matches against College of Charleston and Samford.
The Samford University women's tennis team will next be in action Thursday at 2 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs return home to Birmingham, Ala., for a SoCon matchup against the Chattanooga Lady Mocs at the Samford Tennis Center.
