GREENSBORO, N.C. ---- Samford's sophomore pole vaulter Michael Seaman qualified for the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., Thursday on the first day of competition at the Eastern Division of the NCAA First Round in Greensboro, N.C.
With a fifth place finish in the men's pole vault, his mark of 17-02.75 also broke his previous school record of 17-00.25 set at the Georgia Tech Invitational two weeks ago.
Junior Patrick Wells finished 31st with a vault of 16-02.75.
The rest of the Bulldog field will compete on Friday, starting with Thomas Oliver in the javelin at 10 a.m. Cameron Bean will then compete in the men's steeplechase at 7:30 p.m., followed by Hillary Neal in the women's steeplechase at 8:10 p.m.
