BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ---- Samford head softball coach Stephanie VanBrakle announced Friday that she will hold mini pitching clinics starting in August and continuing through December.

The clinics are open to high school-aged athletes and will be held on the Samford University campus. They will consist of five-week sessions on Monday evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The price is $210 for the five-week session.

VanBrakle was hired in early May to take over the Bulldog softball program. The former Alabama standout comes to Samford after spending the last two seasons as the head coach at Birmingham-Southern College. In two seasons as a head coach at the collegiate level, VanBrakle has posted an overall record of 57-14.

In her first season as a head coach in 2009, VanBrakle led the BSC Panthers to a remarkable 32-5 record. The team broke 13 program records, including the mark for number of wins. Her first team posted a .364 team batting average and 1.19 ERA. In 2010, her team finished with a record of 25-9 overall and 12-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Session 1: Aug. 9 - Sept. 6 (8/9, 8/16, 8/23, 8/30, 9/6)
Session 2: Sept. 13 - Oct. 11 (9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11)
Session 3: Oct. 18 - Nov. 15 (10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15)
Session 4: Nov. 22 - Dec. 20 (11/22, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20)
