BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about two hours in full pads Tuesday morning at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the ninth preseason workout for the Bulldogs.
Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said the practice started off well, but as the workout progressed, the team's performance dropped.
"For our two practices yesterday and the first half of this morning's practice we practiced well," Sullivan said. "But, we hit the wall and didn't practice well for the last half of this morning's practice. We have to pick it up from that."
Monday's practice was the team's fourth full-pad workout of the preseason. The Bulldogs scrimmaged for the first time Saturday afternoon. In the scrimmage, the offense was highlighted by Chris Evans' 47 yards on five carries. Justin Sly came up with an interception to provide the defensive highlight.
Samford will scrimmage again on Saturday, Aug. 21. The scrimmage is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start from Seibert Stadium.
The Bulldogs will practice twice on Wednesday, with a morning practice at 9:10 a.m. in full pads and an afternoon practice in shells at 4:50 p.m.
Samford opens the 2010 season on Sept. 4, when the Bulldogs play at Florida State. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CT) start and will be televised live on ESPNU.
