BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford Athletics Department held its second annual Bullpup Kids Club Kickoff event Tuesday evening at the Homewood location of Hamburger Heaven. Nearly 40 Kids Club members attended the event. Kids enjoyed free kids meals and ice cream, compliments of Hamburger Heaven.

Kids were also able to meet, take photos with and get autographs from Samford's costumed mascot, Spike, soccer players Mary Shelton Bryant, Shannon Weathington, Julia Wright, Taylor Cornwell, Deborah Ince and Mary Grabowsky as well as football players Cory Smith, Thomas Gray and Chris Evans.

Several Samford coaches and staff members brought their Kids Club members to the event. Also in attendance at the event were the Samford cheerleaders who served ice cream and distributed goodie bags to the kids.

The next Kids Club event is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Kids Club members will be able to tour Samford's athletic facilities with Bulldog athletes and coaches. Following the tours, members will be treated to a pizza party in the Pete Hanna Center Hospitality Room.

Membership in the Bullpup Kids Club costs $25, and members receive a t-shirt, membership card, free admission to all Samford athletic events, free ice cream from Hamburger Heaven, a birthday card, special events and much more.
