FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- The Samford University volleyball team won its second match of the year as it defeated UMKC, 3-0, Saturday morning in day two of the Arkansas Invitational. The Bulldogs came out on top in a close three set match that saw extra play in set one (26-24) and set two (28-26) before clinching the win in set three (25-19).

For the straight match, Samford was led by newcomers Katie Murphy and Lauren Hutchinson. Murphy bettered her performance from Friday by notching 12 kills and hitting .333 while Hutchinson posted seven kills and hit .417.

Allie Bettinger just missed her first double-double of the year with nine kills and nine digs, and Alexis Bauer posted her first double-digit digs match of the year with 11 digs.

The Bulldogs will wrap up play in the Arkansas Invitational tonight when they play host team Arkansas at 7 p.m. A full recap of both matches will be posted at the completion of that match on www.samfordsports.com.
