BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about an hour in shorts and helmets Thursday afternoon at Seibert Stadium. The workout was the final full practice in preparation for Saturday's season-opener at Florida State.
Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said his team was ready to get the season started this weekend.
"It's time for us to play," Sullivan said. "You get to the point where you've practiced, you've hit each other and now it's time to go play someone else. We get to go play probably the best team we've played since we've been at Samford in Florida State."
Sullivan said he has been impressed with everything he has seen from Florida State.
"They've got a great football team," Sullivan said. "You can see where they were down for a little bit, but now they've started to come back. Our football team has pointed to this. It's a chance for them to play in the biggest venue they've ever played in."
The Bulldogs will leave campus Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. The team will hold a final walk-through Friday afternoon at FSU's Doak Campbell Stadium.
Saturday's season-opening game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CT) start from Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
