BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for about an hour in shorts and helmets Sunday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
Samford head coach Pat Sullivan said the Bulldogs worked mainly on corrections from last Saturday's 35-17 loss to top-ranked Appalachian State. The Bulldogs are also preparing for this Saturday's game at Elon, who was ranked 10th in last week's Sports Network poll.
"We worked on corrections, working on some of our stuff," Sullivan said. "Now, we'll study Elon and get to work on them on Tuesday."
Sullivan said the Bulldogs were a little frustrated after Saturday's loss, but he said he did see some positives from the game.
"They were frustrated a little, as everybody was," Sullivan said. "After watching the film, there were some positive things and there were some frustrating things that we could have done better. Now, we have to get ready for this week."
Sullivan pointed out some specific players who played well in Saturday's loss to the Mountaineers.
"I thought (wide receiver) Chris Cephus played well Saturday, which was good to see," Sullivan said. "(Running back) Fabian Truss made a couple of big plays offensively. I thought (linebacker) Bryce Smith had a solid game. Both of our kickers (punter Bob Hooper and place-kicker Cameron Yaw), I thought, did well too."
The Bulldogs will take Monday off from practice. Samford will return to practice Tuesday afternoon with a full-pad workout at Seibert Stadium.
Saturday's game at Elon is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. (CT) start from Elon's Rhodes Stadium. The game can be heard locally on WVSU-FM 91.1, or worldwide on the internet at www.samford.edu/wvsu.
